Great debut post Anna. Welcome! Let me start by saying that I'm most concerned about how AI will affect young(er) people whose brains and thinking skills are not fully formed yet, using it to cut corners. As for the rest of us, I think the future belongs to those who can get the best out of AI while protecting their mental faculties. I think it is possible, but we also need to come out of our silos and compare notes more. We need to band together more as humans, to preserve what might be lost if we don't.

I agree. How do we motivate young people to learn to read, write and count when they can use AI instead? But I am worried about my lazy brain, too. Regarding cognitive skills, I feel like genuinely connecting with other humans will be more critical than ever, whether it is to compare notes or for our mental health.

Yes you're right, connections will matter more than ever. And I think intentional use of social media will be key. Shifting from a passive short-form consumer to a long-form prosumer mindset. And Substack is a great place for that. You know what they say—writing is thinking. As for the youth, I hope they embrace the joy of documenting and creating on tangible media.
